Is August 2020 the silliest of all Silly Seasons? An Ode to Autumn!

August has long been known as the ‘silly season’ by the media with no news except what you could make up, so PR agencies large and small flogged their non-stories and celebs got stuck into social media about nothing much except themselves. But life at Team Jones in August has been far from silly! We added a new sponsor to the roster – leading Swedish equestrian sportswear company Stierna, clothes designed for riders with mobiles and style – more of this later. Building on the pair's fabulous PSG 68.2%, Victoria has been busy this month prepping Extra II for his first Intermediate II in the Autumn while on the eventing front, following a double clear in the Intermediate at Aston le Walls, the young eventer Grafics is heading for the Osberton 3* – now rescheduled and being held at Thoresby International in October. Our young ‘rider in training’ Ben Perry is reaping the benefits of a year working with Team Jones, coming third with a Personal Best on his own horse Karla at his first Intermediate at Aston le Walls. It was a hot competition but a good dressage and double clear XC and show jumping secured his PB! Who said lockdown was a holiday?

And if riding and training weren’t enough, Richard and Victoria will feature in the September and October issues of Your Horse Magazine. The editorial team came with camera and recorders, did interviews and took pictures covering training sessions – dressage, show jumping and XC – the works! There are valuable insights and excellent pictures to help you prepare for the Autumn of competitions ahead. Don’t forget to order your copy. Sitting pretty for Autumn 2020

After securing the sponsorship for those ‘must have’ prestige shock-absorbing saddle pads designed by innovative Dutch developer Sedelogic, Victoria has signed a new sponsorship –with top Swedish equestrian sportswear company Stierna. Clothes are specifically tailored to riders’ needs – yes jackets and breeches, but breeches with a pocket for your mobile and stylish over-skirts to ride out in. Particularly liked the 3-layering approach to keeping warm and cool. All made of amazing sustainable, biodegradable organic fabrics. It wouldn’t be an update from Team Jones without a note about Richard’s top event horse Alfie. He’s keeping active and interested in his dressage, showjumping and XC without the stress of an event – and waiting for the 2021 season. As we all are. About Team Jones

Team Jones is based at Lowlands Farm in Rutland. Richard Jones is emerging as a top international eventer – in the top ten at Burghley and at Blenheim in 2018 – and his wife Victoria is going from strength to strength, building her international dressage career. The team has just finished a cross-country training field to add to their facilities so that training can go on for youngsters and established eventers alike. Team Jones is sponsored by leading horse feeds manufacturers Dodson and Horrell, saddle pad designer Sedelogic, equestrian sportswear company Stierna, e-bikes provider Eco Voltz, sports photographers Julie Priestly, artist and photographer Deanne Ward, and IBA International media relations consultancy.
