Richard and Alfie withdraw from Burghley 5* Horse Trials

Updated: May 3

“We’re absolutely gutted” – Richard Jones

Today, we have taken the decision to make a last-minute withdrawal of Alfie’s Clover from Burghley 5* Horse Trials before the first horse inspection and trot-up. The decision follows a very minor skin injury sustained by Alfie.

“The injury is superficial”, said Richard. “Alfie is well and happy and out in the field enjoying grass today. The wellbeing of our horses is central to everything we do here at Team Jones, so ensuring Alfie stays fit and happy is paramount.”

“We are so very sorry for his owners, our team, and all his connections. We were looking forward to giving it our best shot at making this another very competitive Burghley”.

Richard will still host his Thursday course walk supporting the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance charity, and of course Team Jones wishes the very best of luck to all of this year’s competitors. “We will be cheering you on!”, said Richard.
