It’s less than three weeks to the start of Burghley 5* Horse Trials, and preparations are hotting up at the Team Jones Yard. Richard and his top ride Alfies Clover are strong contenders for a top finish at this year’s event, so no stone is being left unturned in the countdown.
Richard managed to take time off to attend the pre-event media Breakfast Briefing at Burghley House. In addition to media interviews, he met up with new Event Director Martyn Johnson and the Burghley Horse Trials team behind the event. Plus he had a long chat with Course Designer Derek di Grazia. Derek is one of the world’s top course designers and the brains behind this year’s 5* XC course. He assured Richard that this year is going to be “a proper 5*.”

According to Richard, “that means a good galloping course and it was music to my ears. Alfie loves a galloping track – and so do the spectators. They will see top event horses able to perform at their very best!”
